Harvey Says...

Read Psalm 145:10-13

“   Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.” (Psalm 145:13a, NSRV)

Harvey would have been 91 years old today. I can remember, Harvey was always trying to tell and teach me new things. I figured he had learned this knowledge and wisdom from the generation before him. Harvey taught me to be faithful, taught me how to praise God, and show gratitude. When Harvey spoke, I listened…

 David’s praise and understanding of God’s glorious splendor, Glorious Kingdom, A Kingdom everlasting, and those mighty Kingdom acts; “Kingdom Rules”. David reminds us that God the king and the Glory of God’s Kingdom, is for “all” God’s Children. This is reverent praise to the true nature of the Kingdom of God and illustrating how God rules and provides for “all people” in God’s Kingdom.

Harvey loved Big Band, we would listen to the same cassette tape, on our trips to Stoneville, NC.  From Generation to Generation words through music have been passed down. As a kid at Camp, I remembered the 1968 song “O Yes My Lord” by the classic soul group Voices of Conquest, saying “O yes, my Lord, Ahhhhhhhhhh, O yes, my Lord, Ahhhhhhhhhh, O yes, my Lord, Looooooord, O yes, my Lord Looooooord.”

It’s “Kingdom Rules” and the Kingdom is everlasting; its words will echo from generation to generation, painting a picture of God who has done much for us and will continue to do for us. God said he would and so God did. I give thanks and praise; the Kingdom has come and “My eyes have seen the Glory.”

Prayer: Awesome God, we humbly give you thanksgiving and praise for the unfailing love, mercy, and compassion you’ve shown all of creation from generation to generation. Amen.
